Special Needs
Hawaii Superferry welcomes passengers with disabilities. You’ll see it in everything from the design of our ferries to the aloha and respect we give each and every customer. We’re committed to making ferry travel enjoyable for people with special needs.
Hawaii Superferry offers the following features:
- Wheelchair accessibility throughout. (However, Hawaii Superferry does not provide wheelchairs, so please bring your own with you.)
- Ramps making ferry entrance, exit, and movement on board easy.
- Lift for passengers with limited mobility and wheel chairs to get from deck to deck.
- Outlets for those who need a power supply for their medical equipment.
- Representatives on board and on land trained to assist you.
In addition to the helpful tips for passengers with vehicles and walk-on passengers, here are some other ideas to help things go smoothly so we can better serve you:
- If you make your reservation over the phone, please notify the representative that you are traveling with a wheelchair.
- If you make your reservation online, please call our Reservations department after completing your booking to advise them that you are traveling with a wheelchair so that it may be documented in your booking.
- Plan ahead. Talk to a Hawaii Superferry representative if you have any questions or concerns.
- Arrive early. Our waiting areas will be open two hours prior to departure. Customers with disabilities have the opportunity to board first.
- Be prepared for security and agriculture screening. Passengers with a disability must undergo the same screening as other passengers.
- If you need medical oxygen, be sure you are transporting it properly.
- Make sure you have your proper medications with you at all times.
- If you are traveling in a group using wheelchairs, be sure to ask about special rates and seating in advance.
- Hawaii Superferry employees are not able to assist passengers with eating, drinking, or using the lavatory. If this type of assistance is needed, customers should consider bringing along an attendant as a paid passenger.
- Hawaii Superferry allows service animals, such as guide dogs, to accompany a passenger with a disability at no additional cost.
